I've been thinking a lot lately about rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Tim. 2:15) I believe this means not misconstruing the Bible (however that may be), or letting other people tell you what the Bible means, rather than praying about it yourself.
Rightly dividing is tricky, though. It takes time in prayer and thought and lots of meditating on something to really understand it, and know how to apply it to your life. I think this is something God put in place to actually draw us closer to Him--we can only find the answers we need if we spend a lot of time looking for them in the Bible and asking Him about it. :) Pretty clever, I say.
I guess I just need to start studying the Bible for the answers I want, instead of waiting for them to drop in my lap. I don't think God works that way. Rightly dividing is a lot of work...but worth it!
